This is my official letter of resignation from the Downtown BID Board. It is with reluctance that I resign, but as many of you already know, I have been appointed to the HB Planning Commission by Councilmember Debbie Cook.
I have enjoyed my time on the board, and I look forward to
see the board continue with its recent successes. Downtown means a lot to me
and to our city and as a proud citizen of
To that end, I have a few suggestions for you as I exit. Most of these things are already on your agenda, but I feel a need to put them to paper as I feel they are important for the BID Board to pursue.
- Find ways to increase BID revenue. Pursue receiving a percentage of parking meter/garage revenues for the BID. The city has a vested interest in developing a strong independent BID and should be willing to develop a permanent revenue stream for the BID.
- Cities across the world have informational kiosks spread through their inner cores. Develop a system of kiosks that can hold advertising as well as info on events and downtown businesses, another possible stream of BID revenue.
- Continue to work with the city to make the BID executive director a fulltime position. The fine work that Connie Pedenko has done so far highlights the necessity for this to happen as soon as possible.
